Cannabis Species – Sativa, Indica and Ruderalis
With the popularity of CBD, people started to come across a plant family known as Cannabis but they do not know a lot about it. This lack of awareness can be due to a bad stigma associated with Cannabis-derived products. People always linked Cannabis to marijuana and they always considered it as only 1 plant. However, in reality, they are 3 different plant species. The main species are Sativa, Indica, and Ruderalis. In this article, we will cover all three species separately and how
Hemp – Cannabis Sativa
Cannabis sativa has fibrous leaves usually long and five slender fingers. Cannabis sativa is the main source of where CBD oil is extracted. So, if you are taking CBD oil, then it is extracted from the Cannabis sativa plant. Cannabis Sativa is commonly known as hemp. Hemp had to fight the battle due to the links of Cannabis with marijuana and it had to persuade the clients to accept hemp for its positive uses. Hemp-derived CBD oil does not have any side effects but still people are hesitant while purchasing CBD oil.
Marijuana – Cannabis Indica
Marijuana is extracted from indica Cannabis species. Marijuana leaf has 7 to 9 fingers and all the recreational marijuana is extracted from Cannabis indica. One major difference between Cannabis indica and other Cannabis species is the presence of THC. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) can be used for positive purposes as well but it is notorious for its intoxicating properties. People use marijuana for occasional recreation while some people want pure CBD products without any intoxicating element.
The rarest and least common Cannabis species is Ruderalis. It is rare because it found only in central-eastern Europe and Russia. The percentage of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is very low in Ruderalis while CBD is in high concentration. Due to this, many people prefer Ruderalis to cure ailments and it is reputed as the most powerful natural remedy. People suffering from epilepsy, anxiety, and depression often use Ruderalis for quick recovery.
Cannabis Species and Alternative Medicine
All the species mentioned above have one thing in common. Neglecting the side effect of Cannabis indica, all the species have healing properties. Sativa is widely used to extract CBD oil and Ruderalis has a massive fan following that needs pure CBD with low THC. Last but not least is Indica. It has a high content of THC but still it offers healing properties and a group of people also use it for occasional recreational activities.
